Having a baby is an experience that is remembered forever. It is an experience that changes the dynamics of a family as well as the entire life of each family member. It is more than just another day; the way a birth unfolds will affect a woman’s life, her confidence in herself as a person and mother, her self-esteem, and her relationships with others.
A WORD FOR THE FATHER / PARTNER
Asking your husband or partner to be your sole guide through labor is like asking him to lead the way on a climb of Mt. Everest. He may be smart and trustworthy, you may love him, but in the Himalayas you’d both be a lot better off with a Sherpa!
A doula can actually bring a couple closer together. By assuring that the partner’s needs are met (food, drinks and emotional support) only then can he give the mother his undivided attention. This is a stressful time for mother and partner. Partners worry they are not doing enough or the right thing. A doula helps the partner to care for and support his wife by giving suggestions, providing encouragement or giving needed breaks during a long labor.
The birth of a child is miraculous, and you will remember your birth experience for the rest of your life. It should be amazing, blissful, and trans-formative. I am committed to helping you make that memory a positive one as I walk beside you on your birth journey.
